KPV constitutes a naturally derived tripeptide consisting of lysine, proline, and valine, stemming from alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It stands out due to its robust anti-inflammatory and antibacterial capabilities. The peptide operates by penetrating cellular structures and binding to key inflammatory mediators. By suppressing signaling cascades like NF-κB and mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase, it diminishes the synthesis of proinflammatory mediators, including interleukins 1 and 6. Ultimately, this mechanism aids in balancing immune activity and mitigating inflammatory processes.
Mechanism of action
Derived from α-MSH C-terminus; enters cells via PepT1 transporter, accumulates in nucleus, inhibits NF-κB translocation to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokine gene expression in epithelial and immune cell models without broad immunosuppression.
Lyophilized: 2–8°C preferred. Post-reconstitution: 4°C, 5–7 days.
Add 1–2 mL sterile or bacteriostatic water. Use immediately or refrigerate. Do not freeze post-reconstitution.
