Sermorelin (also known as Sermorelin acetate or GHRH (1-29)) is a synthetic 29-amino acid peptide analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) with the sequence Tyr-Ala-Asp-Ala-Ile-Phe-Thr-Asn-Ser-Tyr-Arg-Lys-Val-Leu-Gly-Gln-Leu-Ser-Ala-Arg-Lys-Leu-Leu-Gln-Asp-Ile-Met-Ser-Arg-NH₂ and a molecular weight of approximately 3358 Da. Representing the N-terminal fragment of endogenous human GHRH, it is considered the shortest fully functional portion capable of stimulating pituitary somatotropic cells.

Mechanism of action

Synthetic GHRH analog (1-29 fragment) that binds pituitary GHRH receptors to stimulate pulsatile endogenous growth hormone release from somatotrophs, enabling studies of GH axis regulation without broad hormonal perturbation in physiological models.
