PT-141 (also known as Bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide with the amino acid sequence Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH and a molecular weight of approximately 1025 Da. Derived as an analog of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), PT-141 functions primarily as a melanocortin receptor agonist, exhibiting high affinity for the melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) in the central nervous system.
